Staci Sewell Young, MA, LPC, Chief Program Officer, joined The Women’s Home in March 2016. She has over 24 years of direct service and management experience in mental health services and over 14 years in leading collaborative projects in urban communities with specializing in start-up programs and program evaluations. In her current role with The Women’s Home, she provides overall management for the treatment program which includes clinical, residential and support services. Staci is also responsible for overall program design, implementation and staff training. Prior to coming to The Women’s Home, she was the Director of a comprehensive early education intervention program based in several Houston urban communities. There she was responsible for overall program design, implementation and evaluation of a multi-partner collaborative program. Staci has been in non-profit administration in Houston for 14 years. Prior to that, she served the community in Chicago, IL where she spent over 9 years of working with children impacted by trauma and adult survivors of violent crimes. In addition, she worked on a research project, led by the University of Illinois, in a Chicago housing facility aimed at reducing HIV/AIDS. Staci holds two degrees: B.A. in Psychology and a M.A. in Counseling Psychology; both from Boston College and a certification in non-profit management from Roosevelt University. Julie Comiskey, Chief Development Officer, joined the Women’s Home team in July 2017. In her position she will be a guide and champion for the Development team. The Development team works tirelessly to nurture and deepen relationships with individual donors, foundations, cottage shop patrons, and corporations to build a solid and long term foundation of support for the organization thus ensuring TWH has the financial strength to continue its mission and implement the organizations plan for strategic growth.
Prior to joining TWH, Julie was with The Immunization Partnership. Julie brings vast non-profit professional experience as well as volunteer experience to the organization. She was a Development Director for the Memorial Hermann Foundation and previously was in pharmaceutical sales. During her professional career and volunteer experience she has gained a wide breadth of experience and thrives on new challenges.
Julie has a passion for helping others and feels a calling to give back to the community, holding past and present board positions on Arms Wide Adoption Services, Houston’s Ronald McDonald House, the Baylor College of Medicine Partnership board, and the Junior League of Houston. She has chaired various events in Houston, such as the Charity Ball for the Junior League of Houston, Oscar Night America for the Ronald McDonald House, Razzle Dazzle Pink for Memorial Hermann and the auction for the Regis school.

Bethany Fields, Director of Grants and Database Management, has been with The Women’s Home since 2007. With almost a decade of experience in the field of development, she is responsible for researching grants, managing the grant timeline and reports, and writing proposals to private and government funding sources. In addition, she serves as the liaison to the agency’s Young Professionals group, oversees The Home’s donor database and provides crucial support to all development activities including special events. Bethany began her career in nonprofit development as a work-study student in the development department at Reformed Theological Seminary. Cheri Burleson, LPA, Manager of The Cottage Shop, oversees The Women’s Home’s resale shop. She has over 20 years of experience in visual merchandising and retail management. She is a Licensed Psychological Associate in the state of Texas and previously worked in the mental health field for a private practice. She has a degree in Fashion Merchandising from St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from the University of Texas-Pan American. Jerry Gauvin, Manager of Operations, has been with The Women’s Home since 1999. He oversees the day-to-day facility maintenance operations of all buildings. He has over 20 years of experience in building maintenance engineering. He has an EPA Certification and is an A/C refrigeration technician. He is a member of the Facilities and Safety Committee. He has an Associate in Applied Science and is currently completing his Bachelor’s in Engineering Technology at the University of Houston. Chelsey Gutierrez, MS, Manager of Support Services, supervises the case management, and vocational teams and coordinates the program’s volunteer groups. Originally a Floridian, Chelsey relocated to Houston from Orlando where she served as the Assistant Residential Coordinator at Covenant House Florida, a crisis shelter for homeless young adults and their children. At Covenant House, she supervised a team of case managers, led Case Management Appreciation Week, and planned the annual youth prom. Chelsey earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a gender studies minor from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2011 and is a Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges award recipient. While at FGCU, she founded the campus’ first Latina based sorority, Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc., and continues to be an active member. Chelsey went on to earn a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management from Northeastern University in 2016. She previously worked at assisted living facilities for the elderly and adults with developmental disabilities as well as at a medical clinic for low-income working families. Shari Balouchi, Development Manager, is responsible for organizing The Women’s Home’s annual fundraising events and working closely with the Chief Development Officer to develop meaningful relationships with supporters of The Home. Though originally from Toronto, Ontario, Shari grew up amidst the breathtaking views of the Tennessee Mountains. Previously, Shari has partnered with several women’s empowerment organizations and groups in Tennessee (Girls Inc. of Chattanooga, Blue Monarch, and Thistle Farms), and she is looking forward to advancing the mission of a cause close to her heart. Shari earned her Bachelor’s degree in International and Global Studies from Sewanee: The University of the South with a minor in Physics/Astronomy.
